To me gender stereotypes are basically making an assumption about someone without getting to know them or judging them by their appearance. A gender stereotype is sort of lke judging a certain gender according to other people or the "old school" way of seeing things, saying girls should stay home, take care of the house, be proper at all times and to never get down and dirty like the guys. When i was reading The HungerGames I was very suprised when i read about how Katniss huntsto feed her family because originally i thought she would be in more of the girl stereotype of staying proper and takimg care of the house and is "the breadwinner"of the family. The Hunger Games broke gender stereotypes when they made katniss tough and non emotinial because another stereotype about ladies is that they are more sensitive then men and the break it once again when Peeta is very emotional leaving the district 12 behiid and boarding the train.
ReplyDeletethe grand narrative is so different for me because a lot of girls tell me to drass like a girl not a boy but I love to drass like myself and do the thing i loved to do all the time.
ReplyDeletekatniss, she love to hunt and do more things and she is the food giter for her family, she love do a lot and she don't want to kill people.
The Hunger Games Have Broken public stereotypes like girls should be in the house To clean, raise the children to be in a up right and be like like a girly girl. Personly I think the book is correct beacuse if a girl wants to go hunting she can, ifa girl wants to get a job and the husband raises the children she can anybody can be who ever the want to be let nothing stop you in how you truely are.
ReplyDeleteGender sterotypes to me is different because of the way that sterotypes is used for exzample a boy wearing a pink shirt the sterotype is they like the color pink besides manly colors. Some sterotypes in THE HUNGER GAMES is peeta working as a cake maker besides a hunter, and usally girls make cakes, another sterotype in THE HUNGER GAMES is how Katniss loves to be dirty and not care about her looks, and usally girls always want to look good.
ReplyDeletePeople today still see the world through an "old school" view, but the majority of people see the world through the "new school" view. If you take a guy like me into consideration I am a germ freak. I do not like to be dirty. I learned my lesson on not steorotype other people because people have their own opinion on what they like to do. I n the book Katniss is a great hunter but people consider hunting a "man's job". Peete likes to help his parents bake bread when baking is considered a "woman's job".
ReplyDeletegender sterotypes are not the same anymore from how they were a long time ago.its diffrent in a way because back then men did everything while the wife did nothing now if diffrent visversa, and sometimes both men and women go to work. thats some things about stero types that are diffrent today then they were back then
ReplyDeleteA gender stereotype to me is when we think that a girl or a boy should act a certain way, look a certain way, etc. But somettimes i think that it's unfair to judge people that way becuase everyone is unique in their own way. For example, Most people imagine a girl playing with a doll house and barbies, but when I was younger I hated dolls. I didn't find them fun to play with.
ReplyDeleteto me gender stereotypes are people who see everyone through the "old school" view instead of who they really are. I used a gender steroytypes againts a guy who was very tall and told him he should play basketball. He got mad and said he was tired of people telling him what to do so I have learned my lesson on that. Gender Stereotypes the Hunger Games have broken is that Katniss not at home playing with something girly or being bratty. Katniss has to hunt in risk of her life and has to take care of her mom and sister by herself.
ReplyDeleteA gender steriotype is a prejudge of someone before you even talking to like saying girls have to stay home and take care of the kids, clean the house, or just cook dinner! Once everyone judges people for their size like in baseball how our team thought the shorter kids but then they were hitting the ball in the outfield to the fence! In Hunger Games the sterio types that are broken are that girls have to be stay home and paint their nails but can go out in hunt, that even though someone might be small they can be fast and talented like Rue, and that boys show their emotions like Peeta did twice by cring and saing he loved Katniss.
ReplyDeleteGender stereotypes are when people think like a man should be the moneymaker, but is wrong! People need to learn that even the children can be the moneymaker, just like Katniss is. i have been stereotyped many times by even family members. Most people think I am bully, because I'm 5'9'' and 160 pounds. in the hunger lots of gender beliefs such as peeta having a soft side
ReplyDeleteA stereotypes is a person who judge a person on the out side. People Talk about my skirts but when home i dress down
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kush that we base everything on an "old school" view of everyone. Also, I agree with Kush that Katniss is referred as a girley girl but, really she is a hunter..
ReplyDeleteBoys in our society need to suck it up!So many girls in our school are way tougher than the boys. There all so innopropriate and the make fun of girls which to me is a really sick way of showing love!Sometimes they can bring down your whole day with a stupid complement!Boys need to be more like peeta, tough, sweet, sensitive, and nice.
ReplyDeleteTo me gender stereo types are a waste of time and should not even judge anything about anyone because they (sorry rest of this is censored.)And to be honest people do this to me all the time and it never makes me feel any good at all.I do want to let people know how bad it hurts but I'm too afraid to tell anyone because of how they will react.Everyone thinks I'm all gross and don't fit in but I can really be a person that can have a few laughs,be happy-and-go-lucky,and a person who can have a good time.If only god (censored) gender stereo types or outer characters did not (censored) exist!
