Reality T.V. has become a recent phenomenon in our culture. Today you can turn on the television and see anything from Survivor to the Bachelor to My Sweet 16. Whichever channel you flip to, you are bound to see someone doing something insane for money or acting ridiculous during their 15 minutes of fame. Describe your feelings about Reality T.V. shows. Do you like or dislike them? What types are your favorite and which could you do with out? What types of effects do you believe they have on our society? What would you think about turning on the T.V. and watching The Hunger Games?
I am actually an advocate of most reality t.t. shows. My favorite reality show is Biggest Loser. I refuse to watch the whole season but I love the last episode when you can see the transformations that the contestants have taken. However, some reality t.v. shows on MTV are rather disturbing to me. I know that if I was still a teenager I would probably be obsessed. Except as an adult I think that they are ludicrous. Jersey Shore is entertaining but does not promote proper lifestyle and behaviors for our growing youth. Teens should not think that life is all about partying 24/7.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of the Hunger Games, I can not even imagine turning on the t.v. to watch 24 youngsters slaughter one another. I would immediately change the channel or cover my eyes if the government forced me to watch. I feel terrible for Katniss that she is about to enter an arena where her death awaits.

ReplyDeleteIf you were to ask me what I think of reality t.v. then I would tel you Ithink they are a waste of time and a few other words.And if they don't like what I said then I would say cry a river,build a bridge and get over it(thanks Mr.Bittner for saying that!)I would say this because I would rather be dead and go to the underworld then sit down for 30 mintutes to 1 hour and watch one of those stupid,filled with drama,and totally innapropiate shows.Well wipeout,and survior are my only exceptions.Now for the hunger games,I would watch it only to see how tough the tributes are and to see some violence,biood,and action.
ReplyDeleteTo me I like seeing life in a different perspective. However, many reality tv shows are fake and scripted. I can tell when they're fake, because nobody would do/say something like it in real life. On MTV theres a show called "My Life as Liz." Its about this chick who prances around her rich life and tries not to be a snob. She likes this guy and gushes over him as the cameras follow her around. My question is, who does this? If I was on tv I wouldnt want to be blabbing my deepest darkest secrets in fear that my friends and the guy would go back in a couple months, after editing, and watch the show. In the REAL reality, nobody in the right mind would do this. Thats just an example. My favorite reality tv show is Jersey Shore. I wish it would come on more. When it comes to Hunger Games, I would be outraged at something like that. Thats just wrong; to have kids fight for death.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite reality T.V show is American Idol. I really just like watching the auditions. The rest seems less interesting. I don't like the reality tv shows where they just seem to talk the whole time. To me it feels like they give the same information out for a lot of problems.
ReplyDeleteI would not like to watch the show the Hunger Games because of how children play. But, it may be interesting too. Although its not like the reality T.V shows I like to watch. I would also feel bad for the children in the hunger games, and there families because its there kids.
I love reality t.v. !! The entertainment of having some person do all these random funny, cary or dramatic things make me just want to keep watching! Some of my favorite shows are Jersey shore, 16 and pregnat, icarly, and many more. The excitment and drama of jersey shore & 16 and pregnat makes you just want to buy a dvd of all the re-runs and watch them all day long! Then the comedy of icarly amd those other silly shows on nick really tickle your funny bone! But, then theres those SUPER DUPER BORING shows like, Oprah & Dr. Phill. When my mom watches those I just fall asleep! ITS SO BORING! Who cares about your promblems go see a couslotor! Not every body in the world needs to no your man cheated on you! The effects on society are pretty good i believe, if you watch the apropriate show.
ReplyDeleteFor Hunger Games i would aculty watch the show because I like horror movie and hunger games would fit into there or sci-fi. But i do think its bad that they get placed in the arena there should be a volenteer only. Like the show survior.
I love to watch reality tv. There are many tv shows that i enjoy watching like jersy shore, jersylicious, and the challenge. I love to watch shows on people being there true selves and love to see people fighting for real on a daily basis. I like to watch shows when people dont know one another and are locked inside a house and are bound to have have some tensions throughout the house or having to work with people they dispise. I also like to see shows where people have to compete for money. On the challenge people fom the show The Real World come on another show and are on teams with some of there old roomates and compete for alot of money.

On reality t.v. you see things that could really happen.Of course on shows like The Batchlor and Wipeout its crazy but so funny and addicting.These days some shows should just not be on t.v. because of the bad influence to kids. Also,some teenagers make shows just to be famous and make money! The Hunger Games seens like a extreamly nerve wracking game that basicly sends you somewhere with absolutly nothing normal.you would not catch me around even watching it!

If i turned on the tv and started to watch a reality t.v show and seeing people dieing, i would turn it because that would just break my heart. i wouldnt think anybody would want to watch other people lay there and die.
ReplyDeleteMy faveorite reality shows are I Didnt Know I Was Pregent and Jersey Shore. I get to watch them live there normal lifes like the camaras werent even there. Like on I Didnt Know I Was Pregent, I get to see them be all dramatic and see them living there lifes like anyother day then 5 minutes later their giving birth. So reality shows fasinate me. They probably do take effect on people because they are happy and doing daliy basis things you get to actually see them do.
If I would turn on the t.v and start watching the Hunger Games, I would change it. I dont want to sit there and watch young inasent childern stand there and sunddleny fall over after being stabed in the back with knifes or shot with an Bow and Arrow. They didnt do anything wrong to die. It wasnt there choice. Just thinking about it breaks my heart. so Imost definitley would not want to watch the Hunger Games, so Id change the channel.
realiy shows come on almost ever channel you turn to! but turning on the t.v one day and seeing the hunger game would want me to turn it right off seeing kid try kill each other just is not a good role mode for kid to grow up around. realiy is grate but I dislike the one where people make fool of them self like jersey shore and they do not set good example on people who whach even though it can be entertaing. but what got to be my favor show would be amazing race because it show people do thing that they do not normaly do it also can be inteasting if two team hate each other but it show a lot of team work a it intresting to see the world!

ReplyDeleteReality TV shows are very entertaining! But however I dislike the TV shows hat they show, because they don't teach the veiwershow the real world works or how to act in proper manner! Sweet 16 is about girls that give attitudes to their families all because of fame and to get what they want. My favorite reality tV shows is, cake boss and the amazing race. The one that I can do without is jersy shore. The effects that the TV shows have in our society is the viewers acting just like the TV stars, which cause the viewers to be put in jail!. Tunning on to the honger games would be very intense, because you would see the people being killed. For example, the viewers might follow along with the contestants of the honger games, which could cause bad behavior!
ReplyDeleteI actualy would rather watch reality T.V. then something that a bunch of script makers made up. My favorite reality T.V. shows are Survior, Wife Swap, and Wipe Out. I think that reality T.V. is much better then any other T.V. show because anything can happen. However, I do find some reality T.V. shows can be rude and offensive. Such as Jershey Shore and Keeping UP the Kardashians. If shows like these countiue they could have some serious damage on the youth of America.

Honestly I love reality tv because it's nothing like cartoons or anything, It's people showing there dialy lives on tv or just trying to have a little fame and fortune.My favorite reality shows are true life, survival, and of course the one only jersey shore! But to be honest in my opinon reality shows for example like jersey shore thats a real bad affect on our society, when you have children like preteens and teenagers and they wacth jersey shore kids would want to be like them. for example perteens and teenagers would want to drink, dress innappropnate, and influence this type of age group do you know what. and beacuse of jersey shore influence this age group to do you know what thats why we have 16 and pregant and teen mom! If I had turn on the tv and saw the Hunger Games i would break down into tears or change the channel because who wants to see kids from 12 to 18 fight for their lives and try to live.

ReplyDeleteI love reality t.v. even if some are scripted. It tells you what to do in life. For instance, Jersey Shore is a well-known reality show that exposes people in thier day to day habits. Such as, cursing, drinking, adolescent partying, and etc. These are not the best activities to contribute to, but it is vainly entertaing. Idon't like reality shows that are brought on to find love. I mean, why would you go on t.v. to find love when you know there are people out for money, only. For example, fLAVOR fLAV'S SHOW.

ReplyDeleteFor the most part I believe that reality television, with a few rare exceptions, is mindless bilge that does not have the right to be called entertainment. As I mentioned above some reality t.v is actually decent. For example Survivorman or Man vs. wild. Reality t.v is not even actually real. It is scripted and the poeple only act so dumb because they are being payed to do so. I believe that our society is on a downhill slope and I believe mindnumbing "entertainment" like Jersey Shore is just de-evolutionizing us. In regards to the hunger games I believe it would be slightly enjoyable IF it was a) with adults and b) the people didnt actually die because HONESTLY who doesn't like watching people fight.

I am very facinated with reality TV shows. They just seem very intresting to me. I love watching 16 and pregnant just because it shows that being a teen mom is NOT easy, it shows the struggles that they grow through everyday. If it's financially or the lack of support from their family, it proves that, that part of life isn't so glamorous. Some reality t.v shows i can go without are jersey shore, those TV shows where celebrity's (or Wannabe's) are "trying to find love" and keeping up with the kardashians even though i love the kardashians and their show very much, i cant say i support money hungry celebrity's i find it enjoyable because the viewrs get to see life in a diffrent perspective, but not when the only thing their doing is: Drinking, partying, and staying out late at night, those type of T.V shows don't have points nor do they give any life lessons or insight on life... the REAL WORLD not the glamorous lifestyle they live that most if not all of us can live up to. It mostly reveolves around these people buying 1000$ purses or 1 million dollar cars which is ridiculous, it's just like bragging but to the whole world. Sometime's i wonder id ther proud of that. The affects they might have to our society is proving to youth my age or younger than I am, or even older than i am is to be wild and out of control and if we all started doing that our world would be chaos, younger kid's look up to most of these reality T.V. stars as role models and if they see their role model partying and drinking every night, then they are going to want to do they same exact thing, thinking it's "cool"
ReplyDeleteIf the hunger games were on TV I just couldn't bear to watch it, seeing children as young as my age (12) try to kill eachother is heartbreaking, and way too hard to watch, it's even more heartbreaking knowing that Katniss has no other choice but to do the hunger games, and doesnt even have a say in it.
My realy love reality t.v. I think it shows you real life and everythig that could happen if you chose to make that decion.

But on the other hand if you watch some shows lik jersy shore it could encourage you to act like them and be like complet crazy people who party and drink 24/7 and never work. These types of shows could b bad for people but could be entertaining to your life.
There are also shows like made that eouncourge you to be beter and healhty and to change your life.
Sometimes when i watch certain reality t.v. shows it realy don't want to watch it beacuse it makes me so upset how peopple put their life on t.v. to make money and get there name out there!
One show that I DISLIKE is my super sweet 16 but at the same time it hooks you. the thing i dont like is that all the girls are super spoiled nd dont know anything real about life. they give them anything they want from brand new cars to famous designer clothes. its not a reality because not every kid in the world get everything they want.\

ReplyDeleteI LOVE reality tv i love mostly MTV shows and CBS and Cake boss i love how creative they are and American Idol and how they work sooo hard to win the competition also with American's Next Top Model and Biggest Loser. But some of the shows on MTV like Jersey Shore are more for people that are a little older but I still like it. Life is not about partying everynigtht all night. I like the comeptions that they do on American's Next Top Model and the photo shoots that they do. But on My Sweet 16 is about teenager that think they get want they want when they want it. I really dislike teenager like that.

It is where 25-30 people get put in a house and they play games and and have to vote each other out kinda like the hunger games only they get put into a arena and they have to kill each other. I LOVE to watch reality shows. I think there are informative and sometimes funny. The tv show i love the most is Disorder In The Court Room. i love this show because it shows what can happen in the court room and some bad fights. Ibeleive it affects our society by sometimes making us change to the people they see if you are young and not fully mature. Also they have people go out and do these things thinking that it is funny. If i turned the hunger games i would feel bad and excited to see people fight for there freinds and family giving them honor. But sad for them fighting eachother to the the death giving some of them honor.

Reality T.V shows are a whole lot of fun to watch but not if they are making huge fools out of themselves.My favorite reality T.V. show is Survivor. I like it because of all the different challenges they have to do. my favorite challenge is when they have to balance dishes on a table or something similar to that sort.Most reality T.V. shows are a bad influence on teens but some can also teach teens a lesson.For instants there is Teen Mom where they show you it is hard to be a mom at that age and you go through alot of hard times.

ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of reality T.V!! I like to see the differnt challnges, that differnt people, with diverse personalitys have to complete. Althogh i have many differnet shows i love, i have to say my favriote reality show is "Minute to Win It!" I dis like "Hole in the Wall," because i do not like the challenges, they are all the same. I think it makes teenagers excited about competion and want to try than be LAZY!!! I would not want to trun in the T.V and see kids kill each other. I do not get where people get the joy of killing each other.

I love to watch reality T.V.! My favorite reality show would be cake boss. This show is very entertaining but the yelling and the verbal fighting is not a good message to kids. the show is supposed to be about family an familys arent suppsoed to yell at each other all the time. watching the hunger games on t.v would be kind of disturbing and to watch your child(if he/she is in it) would break my heart and i wouldnt see the point of kids killing each other just for food!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I kind of like reality t.v. shows. A few of them are shows like Big Brother, American Idol, Surviver. Those are the kinds of shows that are not scripted. Those shows are live. Therefore, there is no way at all to go back and edit them, change words around, and things like that. A few shows that I can do with out is Jersey Shore, Fear Factor, and certain shows like that. I feel that shows such as Jershy Shore and Fear Factor are bad influnces on the society because for example Fear Factor, I feel that after people watch those shows, they want to try them to. But in different ways such as jumping off bridges, eating live fish and things like that. I also feel that Jershy Shore is impacting children by they want to try smoking and drugs and achohol. They are seeing that the people on that show are showing that is is "cool" or "fun" to do things like that. Then they get into trouble, or they get adicted. Now because of one show, (in this case) it has ruined your life! If I had to turn on the television and watch The Hunger Games, I would horrified. I would chose not to watch it. I could not stand for people to bascily be told "If you can't do this, then you WILL die!" I would not even go into the room were the telivision is! If i HAD to watch the tv show because the government made me, I would close my eyes!

ReplyDeleteI HATE REALITY T.V!!!!! (sorry). I think that reality t.v is bogus! Its pathetic and full of dramatic scenes. If its reality, then those people are pathetic and annoying wheen it comes to drama. I can live a bajillion years without reality t.v. A gift for the t.v station. I'm more into comedy shows that involve real people like "Full House", and "Drake and Josh" those shows are funny. Reality t.v has a negative impact on our society. to have a good speech about it, people would say that it "shows people how the real world is and how we can improve our lives from their mistakes in life." Thats all bogus. It just gives peoples lives a laugh to peoples mistakes. They don't pay attention to the way they can make a better them, just for a laugh.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool to watch the hunger games, just not when I have an appetite. Im really into mild violent violent graphics on t.v. Its cool to see fighters die, but it is also bad and ignerant to just sit back and wathch innocent kids die because their names were picked annomonously by the dumb dictated capitol.
Reality t.v. shows are a lot of fun to watch becuase big brother thats a good show because they get 20-30 people get in to one house and play games to see who will stay in the house and see who will get eliminated from the house. When everyone is gone the last one standing in the house will win all the money that the show wil give the people in the house. Just like the hunger games instead u go into an arena with 24 people and try till kill them by reaching the cornucopia with weapons in it like knife bow and arrow swords aanything like that. But yeah big brother is a good reality show. Well also in the hunger games u get a trainer and a person to help you to be better at what ur good at but in big brother you dont get anyone to help u in the big brother but yeah reality t.v. is no waist of time.
ReplyDeleteI usually like to watch reality TV shows. I don't get why the Hunger Games should still be on TV, let alone performed. I mean, after 74 years, I would think that the Capitol woud forget the whole rebelion and forgive the 12 districts already.
ReplyDeletei think that reality t.v shows arre ok at times but has to be the right time, becase there funny when ur down or sad and it can pipe up your spirit.If ur bored find somthing els becase people getting stuff that u want is bouring. Unless there looking really really dumb or like the love life t.v. shows, becase people getting there heart brocken is like soooooooo funny. They get all durmattic and screem and yell like they dont have any sences like me at time sike like all the time. I mean but people putting there self up there just to look dumb and retarted is there just trying to sit up there and say that they were on t.v. The other people that are having breack throues are what really matter. Not for my genaration becase all we want including me is a lagh or a smile and call it a daym. Just like the shows jersy shoer, money hungry, fantasa for real ect. I could go on and on all day
ReplyDeleteand to the hunger games. ok no i dont no if i would watch it . no thats only becase its all sad and stuff becase people getting killed left in right i did not turn on the tv to see so maybe some times i would watch it but other than that its a horrer movie just readin it.
I feel that reality T.V. is insane. There are things that they make people do that are just strange. I'd have to say that I am in between liking and disliking them, because they are entertaining, but some are flat out weird! I'd have to say the reality shows that I do like would be things like American Idol, because they are entertaining and mostly real. Although it is called Reality T.V., I know that some shows are fake, in that people are only acting the way they do for money and fame. Shows like "Bridezillas" really annoy me because they show women being plain bratty, and all for money and fame. If I saw the Hunger Games on the television, I would most likely start sobbing, because no one, especially children, should be forced to go out and fight to the death. I think this a very cruel way to treat people, and I would have to change the channel right away, because I wouldn't be able to bear watching that.
ReplyDeleteI aqree with ali,watching the hunger games on reality t.v would be so crazy.No one wants to see people die,especially if it deals with alot of blood.What influence would it have on the little kids if we have a perfect government right now?All that death and blood will lead to many bad things when those kids grow up and no one will want to witniss that.
