Describe what you believe is the role of a government. How are they supposed to care for their people? What freedoms should they give to their people? Can you share your knowledge about places throughout the world who's government does not offer their people very much freedom? How would you feel if your freedom was taken away? How does the government control the people of Panem?
I think the government is supposed to help and protect the people of the country, makng it a safe place to live. They should have police forces and armies that are there for the protection of the people, and no one should ever have to be killed, unless they comitted a serious crime. People should have the freedom to do what they need, and control their own lives, not the government controling them. If they don't get that freedom, I don't think people would be very happy with there lives, and people wouldn't want to live here anymore. I personally wouldn't want to live in a country where my freedom was limited, because I wound't feel safe, and would have a way to just be myself. In Panam, the government controls everything from how much they can eat, to where they can travel. They also have once a year, The Hunger Games, where children are forced to go out and fight to the death. I feel this is extremely unfair and children shouldn't be treated so cruley. Shouldn't the government be protecting the people, instead of forcing their children to go out and murder each other?
ReplyDeleteI believe the role of government is to protect and give freedom to its people.Different freedoms the government should give is the freedom to protest the government if they believe it is doing something wrong.What the government of Panem, North America,did to the people was violation of their rights and freedoms.I would be ready to start a war if my freedoms were taken away like that.The people of Panem are being treated like slaves.The government is breaking the Constion.The government controls people of Panem by making them their slaves and divided them into different districts with different jobs.
ReplyDeleteI think the Government is supposed to protect it's citizens. Also, it should enforce laws but not enforce them so much they have areality show where most of the contestants die. They take care of thier citizens by giving them money, shelter and protection. The freedoms they should give to thier people is freedom of speech, press and religion.The government that controls Panem is very cruel because one they give them very little food and they make 24 tributes fight to the death every year!
ReplyDeleteI believe that the role of the goverment is to protect the citzens of that country. This should be done by a Police force or a national army. The people should all get the basic freedoms like freedom of religon freedom of speech. They should also have the right to having privacy and also feeling safe and secure knowing that there goverment will. l protect them. Places around the world that do not offer there people freedom are places like India,Afagahnastan. If any of the rigts were taken away from me I would feel upset and cheated. And Panem defintley does not follow any of the above standards
ReplyDeleteA government is supposed to care for their people and protect their natural rights, their freedoms can range from anything to freedom of speech to preventing cruel and unusual punishment.Governments shouldnt be cruel and hold their people with an iron fist, there are pleny of places in the world with dictatorships like this such as Cuba.If my freedom was taken away in my own country I wouldnt feel secure to live my daily life,no government should treat their people cruely, in Panem the Capitol holds control over the people by forcing young tributes to have a fight to the death on live tv, the point of having a government is to protect peolpe from danger not cause them insecurity and force them against eachother.
ReplyDeleteI think the government is suposed to care for us by giving us medical care,food,and shelter.Some freedoms that the government shold give us is is to do what is needed by geting our own source of food and how much not the government telling us how much to have.One government that dose not give alot of freedom is North Korea they dont even let people out of the country.If my freedom was taken away I wouldnt be really happy because, I dont want another person running my life so I would leave.The government running Panem is very crewl because, ther letting chilldren 12-18 fighting to the death once ever year.They dont even give any one enough food to sevive.

They should give their citizens certain rights such as freedom of speech,freedom of religion,right to bear arms,and etc...If a government does not provide these rights to it's citizens it is not doing a good job. PANEM does not protect any rights and it's people do not live peecefully.

ReplyDeleteA government is suppost to give protection to it's citizens and keep the country running eficiontly.A government is to have a heart for thier people in which they are responsible for.They should have a military to protect the country and the citizens.A government should give thier people the freedom of speech ,expression,and they need to supply the citizens with natural rights.they can't be a cruel government where they tell you to do everything Cuba has no freedom they live in a dictatorship and they have a communest government they are told how to do everything.If my freedom was taken away i would be devestated because i couldnt do anything i wanted.The government of panem is very cruel they dont let thier citizens do anything and kill people for fun
ReplyDeleteThe role of the government is to take care of its people, in my opinion. they are supposed to care for its people by giving then food and shelter(when absolutely needed), to require free education in all schools ,including college, and to provide them protection by having the army, navy, and airforces. I think the government should give its people all the freedom but have strict laws if they take advantage of the freedom.
ReplyDeleteI know in some countries that the government does not give their people much freedon at all. In one country women are not aloud to wear certant clothes and lengths withoiut getting shot or killed. In another, if kids dont respect there elders or speak out of turn the can get killed or severely punished.
If my freedom was taken away I would feel very confused because i am a human and people should not be able to tell people what to do without comprimise. Also i would be angry beacause in the declaration of independants it says we are all created equal and we are born with rights and no one can take them away. The govwernment treats the people horribly and they are in comple te controle like a dictatorship
the govt. of pamem is not a good govt.,just because district 13 relvolted,does not mean they have to treat the other 12 like crap,therefore,i feel somewhat strong about this and not every government has to be a carbon copy of the U.S. ,but if a govt. is bad,the last thing you want is a govt. like panem.

ReplyDeletethe challenge i faced was riding a bike, dad had to teach me but i kept falling,this is a two wheeler by the way. Anyways i got the hang of it at about 6 and i was 5 at the time so it took me a year.Just like katniss was worried that there wasnt gonna be a bow and arrow at the training because thats her speacial skill.
ReplyDeleteI believe the role of a government is to protect its people, give them their natural rights and and to make it a safe place to live for their citizens. A government should provide public services and give the people some power, and also make laws for the common welfare of the country. Many countries may give their people limited freedom mostly dictatorships and unitary governments. If my freedom was taken away i would feel unsafe and not enjoy living in the country. The government of the country of Panem controls its people by limiting its power,giving it many unfair laws and most of all making people take part in the Hunger Games, a national reality show that makes certain citizens fight to the death, it is even more unfair considering they make the citizens from age 12 to 16 accumulate more and more chances to get picked a year. The people even have to add tessarea to feed their families for a year making the odds against the more poor people. To the people in poor districts, the government forcing them to fight is like a death sentence considering it starves most of its citizens, leaving all the wealth to itself which to me is a very cruel and unsuccessful government because the people need the government but the government of Panem does not fill the purpose of its being.
ReplyDeleteThe role of the government is to serve the interests of the people ,and to provide the common welfare among the citizens of the nation.Its to make the country a happier and a safer place.To provide life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.They should take care of the people with protecting their rights.If the government does not protect the rights of the people, everything will go out of hand and there will be problems everywhere.The freedoms that the government should give to Its' people is basically all the rights the United States Constitution gives us right now.For example, the freedom of religon and the right to vote.The country China does not give Its people much freedom.They're rules for parking and rules for owning children.They're rules on even the smallest things in society, so the citizens of China do not have as much freedom as we do here in America.I would feel horrible and depressed If my freedom was taken away from me because I would not be able to do much of the things as I do already now.In Panem the government controls their people from transportation to the peoples' way of life.The government also holds this yearly event called the Hunger Games where 24 kids(two from each of the twelve districts) come to the Capitol and battle to the death.Only one will survive.That's a horrible government.No one can feel safe living in Panem with a government that makes you regret the day you were born.
ReplyDeleteI think that the role of the government is to protect people's rights, not take it away like in Hunger Games. They are suppose to help the people who are in need of help. For example, if a problem affects a lot of people, the government should step in and help them out. The individuals should have enough freedom, where they have a say in what they want and what is best for everyone. In Sudan, or China. The people in those countries aren't aloud to flee from their country but some still attempt to. If my freedom was taken away, I would be nervous and mad, because with no freedom, the government can do anything they want and we can't do anything about it. The Government controls Panem by having the Hunger Games, where the tributes HAVE to fight to survive and win the games.
